Prohibited Items

Drums & Barrels

Drums & Barrels

Unlabeled or sealed drums (5–55 gallons) often hide unknown or hazardous residues. For everyone’s safety, we require these be handled by certified waste facilities.

Batteries

Batteries

Lead-acid, lithium-ion, and rechargeable batteries pose fire and chemical risks. Please recycle them at your local battery drop-off center.

Biohazard Waste

Biohazard Waste

Medical sharps, infectious materials, and biological samples require specialized disposal. We’re not equipped for these—please contact your health-care waste provider.

Chemical & Hazardous Waste

Chemical & Hazardous Waste

Acids, solvents, pesticides, and industrial chemicals can’t go in general trash—these must be taken to a hazardous-waste collection site.

Fluorescent Bulbs

Fluorescent & CFL Bulbs

These contain mercury vapor and can’t be broken or tossed curbside. Please recycle them at designated lighting-recycling programs.

Paint & Solvents

Paint & Solvents

Liquid paints, varnishes, thinners and aerosol paints are flammable and require drop-off at a paint-recycling or HHW facility.

Radioactive Materials

Radioactive Materials

Any material marked radioactive (e.g. X-ray film, industrial gauges) is strictly regulated—only licensed handlers may transport it.

Aerosol Cans

Aerosol Cans

Pressurized cans—whether paint, deodorant, or cleaning sprays—can explode if punctured. Please empty and recycle them properly.

Tires

Tires

Bulk and passenger-car tires are bulky and must go to specialized recycling centers. We’re not set up to haul them in our trucks.
